PFK CSKA Sofia - FC Nordsjælland: head to head and statistics

FC Nordsjælland - PFK CSKA Sofia, 22 Oct 2026

A red card for Justin Janssen proved costly for FC Nordsjælland, who had to settle for a 2–2 draw with CSKA Sofia at the Right to Dream Park in Farum in the UEFA Conference League, after leading 2–1 with a man advantage swinging the other way in the closing stages.

The hosts got off to a bad start: Leandro Godoy put CSKA ahead in the 8th minute, beating goalkeeper Andreas Hansen, and the Bulgarians then looked dangerous. Nordsjælland were almost level before the break when Ibrahim Adel headed a cross from the right toward goal, but CSKA goalkeeper Fedor Lapoukhov made a reflex save. Adel was not to be denied: the Egyptian winger equalised in the 55th minute and put the hosts 2–1 up in the 67th with a second goal, after being fouled several times during the match. In the 76th minute Janssen, who already had a yellow card, received a second one and was sent off, which allowed CSKA to dominate the final stages. They got their reward in the 88th minute when Godoy pounced on a rebound to make it 2–2, and after a lengthy VAR check for offside, the goal stood.

Nordsjælland, coached by Jens Fønsskov Olsen, now have two points from two matches, and many in Denmark argued after the match that the coach should have substituted the already-booked Janssen earlier.
